How do I change print job costs for URL, Application free printing and free print schedules?
Answer: Step 1: Browse to the OCS server Step 2: Run OCS Manager Step 3: Select “Utilities Menu”
Print Job Costs ControlDefine URL Printing If you define a URL by adding it to this screen, either free printing or a specific cost will be applied when printing occurs from the URL. OCS will search and verify if the URL has been added to the list. If the URL is found, the cost entered here will override the printer cost assigned elsewhere.
Application Free PrintingOCS can be configured not to charge when the users are printing from defined applications. An application is defined by entering the application name (i.e. the name of the executable used to start the program), and then by clicking the ADD button. The window displayed below allows you to define and edit the applications that are exempted from charging.
Free Balance ApplicationThis feature allows the OCS administrator to select how the free balance is applied.
Set Up Differential PricingYou can assign individual accounts to different pricing groups the above widow is provided to define the groups and set the prices. The users are assigned to a deferential pricing group in the User Manager.
Free Print Schedules Free printing schedules provide the ability to override the normal charging rates for printing on the basis of a location and a date and time. All computers are assigned a site and group definition, for example Smith Campus (site), Biology Lab 6 (group). One can select all computers in Biology Lab 6 to have free printing on Wednesday at 10-11 in the morning by making entries in the free print scheduler. - 1) OCSMGR.EXE, Utilities, Free Printing Schedule 2) Create a site-group schedule 3) Select the site and group to apply 4) If you want interactive mode then on the next prompt enter Yes else Press No and the user will not be prompted I.e. - you will receive a prompt to specify the account To which the charges will be passively applied
5) You can then specify the routing of the users print job. It can be sent to the server for release at a PRS Or it can be sent to the designated printer directly. You are prompted for the server queue.
6) At this point you can setup the actual schedule by double Clicking on the entry. Here you simply enter the start and end time (in our example, 1000, 1100) and press the button Wed No Charge, followed by the Add button. When complete, press the “Done” button. All changes, removals, additions are intuitive.
These changes take effect immediately. This means as soon as you press the “Done” button, the next user in Lab 6 (for example) will check their printing against this free printing schedule. By default a set call standard_site and standard_group will be defined and if you do alter entries, all computers will be assigned to this set. It you wish to set up a new group (e.g. for Lab 6), simply user OCSMGR.EXE, Utilities, Site Group Editing and add the new site and group. You can then sequentially apply this set to each computer in Lab 6, with this same routine, by pressing List for All Sites, double click on an entry, press the change button and apply this computer to the new site and group.
