My Primary server has failed - how do I switch over to the Secondary?

Answer:

The following assumes that the secondary unit has been previously configured identically to the primary OCS server. 

The following steps are to be taken to bring the secondary server on-line. 

Step 1: Rename the secondary computer to the name of the failed unit. 

Step 2: Set the secondary server’s IP address to that of the failed unit. 

Step 3: Run SETUP.EXE from the OCSPROG\CDUSR directory and select “Change Primary Secondary Settings” to set this unit accordingly. 

Step 4: Take the failed unit off-line. 

Step 5: Start the OCSENG service on the secondary server. 

Step 6: Run OCS Manager on the new primary server and select “Utilities” button. Next, select the button “Sync Secondary from Primary”.  You can then specify a current server from which to download all user data. 

Step 7: Stop and restart the service on the replace unit.
