What are the required settings for the OCS monitored queue on the server?

Answer:

In a basic OCS printing environment there would always be a monitored queue.  Whether there is more than one depends on your organization’s specific needs.  By default, when OCS Server is installed, a shared printer called MONITOR will be added to the printers on the server.

Since the monitored queue must always be shared, ensure that the printer name and shared name are both the same.  Differences in the name have been known to cause conflicts in previous versions of OCS.

With respect to ports, the monitored queue should be set as a local port. You should make certain that “Enable bi-directional support” has not been enabled.

Under the advance settings, you should verify if you are using the correct driver, spool settings, and printer processor.  Aside from the “Print spooled documents first” any of the other features present under this section (i.e. Hold mismatched documents, Enable advanced printing features, or Keep printed documents) should not be enabled.
