Adding VCC Devices – Server Side LAN Device OverviewLAN devices are networked units that allow a user to identify a secure account (either by swiping a card or entering information via the keyboard) and enter a password/pin number. From the print/copy device, upon account verification, the user can then select options from a menu and copy or print, with charges being applied to his or her account. The add-value unit is similar in operation and allows for the creation of accounts and the addition of funds to existing accounts. Both types of devices are controlled by the OCSENG service. Pre-SetupBefore installing these units you must: 1. Have completed the installation of OCS on the host server. 2. Know the static TCP/IP address that can be assigned to the unit(s). 3. Know the MAC address of each unit (this will be included with the Shipped unit). 4. Have configured the LAN device(s) and set the static IP Setup
As displayed below, the administrator has the ability to add new devices to the list, remove devices, change the configuration of devices, print the configuration, or set up system-wide settings. Note: If you make changes to any listed device or remove devices from this list, you will need to restart the OCSENG service in order for these changes to take effect. AddWhen adding new devices, you need to specify whether the device you are adding is a Print Vending\Copier Control (NTS Device) or an Add Value Station. Selecting an incorrect device type here will prevent the unit from functioning correctly. Depending on the device type selection, the next window that appears will either be the Add Value Station Configuration window or the Print / Copy Device Configuration window. Please see the appropriate device configuration section of this manual for a description of the device-specific parameters.
Remove To remove a device from the list, simply select the device and press the Remove button. You will need to restart the AAAAA-OCSENG service for this change to take effect. EditTo edit or change an existing device configuration, simply select the device and press the Edit button, or double-click on the device entry. Again, in order for any changes to be picked up by the AAAAA-OCSENG service, the service needs to be restarted. Enable/DisableWhen a device is added to the system, it is automatically disabled. To enable or disable a given device, select the desired device and press the Enable/Disable button. If you are disabling either an Print / Copy Device or an Add Value Station, you will need to restart the service in order for this change to take effect. Pressing this button prints a list of the configured devices.
Set All Groups to DefaultVCC units can be set to only operate for specific user groups (e.g. staff, but not patrons). This button will force all entered VCCs to be operable for the default user group. Require Ledgers If your system is set up to use ledgers, this button will force a ledger selection step for the user when he or she is printing or copying from the device. Toggle Standard/Steering This option should be set based on the harness being attached the photocopier. In most cases, the default of “Standard” should be used. If you plan on having multiple data lines, or a non-standard harness, contact OCS for further information.
BW/Color Queue
When a VCC device is
select from the listing, this button will switch the queue between black and
white to color, and back. This determines which pricing option should be used. System Settings The system settings configured here affect all LAN Devices configured within the OCS system. If your server is configured in a Master/Slave setup, the System Settings can be configured from any server, but will be stored on the Master server.
The next three items apply only to the Add Value Stations:
Allow Multiple station concurrent access to accountsWhen set to yes this feature will allow simultaneous access to an account by more than one Print / Copy Device. On-Cash Money Pick-Up This feature acts as an extra layer of security when dealing with network enabled cash devices. Eliminate Terms from Print / Copy Device print job description If certain terms have been defined, they will not appear in the print job description. Essentially reducing the amount of clutter. Required Ledgers When this is enabled after the account information is validated the user will be prompted to select the bill to ledger as defined and configured on the OCS server. Select MAX ESCROW to download A value must be defined in these fields when using the device for copying purposes. The value will determine how much ESCROW will be assigned from the users total debit balance. Device Configuration The Device Addressing section of both configuration windows is identical: the Controller MAC address is the Ethernet address of the device, the controller IP address, the Reader and the Configuration Port numbers. The Controller MAC Address is a 12-character string containing the characters 0 through 9 and A through F. The IP device address must be unique among all devices on the network; to determine whether the address is currently used, run the PING command. The reader and configuration port numbers must be different and both be greater than 1024. Add Value Station
Device Addressing - This is described at the beginning of the Device Configuration section. General Timing Parameters - These are the times for the device to wait without any activity before ending a particular operation. Restricted To Use By These Groups – Allows the device to be configured to operate for specific user groups. The user groups are set up through OCS Manager.
Lan Print/Copy Device
Device Addressing - This is described at the beginning of the Device Configuration section. General Timing Parameters - These are the times for the device to wait without any activity before ending a particular operation. The Account Entry and PIN Entry fields have the same meaning as those described in the Add Value Station section above. Restricted To Use By These Groups – Allows the device to be configured to operate for specific user groups. The user groups are set up through OCS Manager.
Relay Timing – The Relay Timing section contains photocopy device-specific timing parameters for the Sense and Blind times, and the Reset and Eject delays. Please consult your photocopier manual for the proper values. The values listed here are measured in 10s of milliseconds (a value of 50 represents 500 ms). These values will be rounded to a multiple of 50 ms, i.e., the last digit of these values will be either a 0 or a 5. Prices - Photocopiers There are eight available price lines in the Print / Copy Device unit for the photocopiers. For the prices, a value of zero ($0.00) disables that particular price line. The assignment of the price lines is dependent on the photocopier.
Vending Pricing (If the LAN Device is to be used as print release station then Enable ) Vending Pricing must be checked. This will enable the Printer Button for you to configure the printer.
Printer - Each Print / Copy Device Device can print to only one printer the following window will be displayed for you to add the printer and enter price
Printers The Add LANDev Printers button displays a list of available printers; the administrator selects the actual printer and presses OK. Note: Page count costs entered here override the values entered at the client station. Entering Page Costs Select the “Edit Print Costs” button. Each printer may have multiple price lines based on page types for each page type For a Page Type: 1. Select the printer, from the list of added printers.
