Web-Based Printshop Software Installation

In order to run the web-based program, you must have Internet Information Services (IIS) v. 5 or later installed on a server that provides external access (i.e. a web server).  Further, you will need to install .NET v1.1.4322.  The IIS software is included with Windows 2000 / Windows 2003 and the .NET software is available for download. 

1)      Extract the files from OCSWebPS.zip to a directory located on your web server (e.g. C:\INETPUB\WWWROOT\OCS_PRINTSHOP). 

2)      Open the IIS manager (Start => Control Panel => Administrative Tools) and expand your server name, and then the Web Sites folder, and finally your Default Web Site folder. 

3)      Right-click on the Default Web Sites folder, and select New, then Virtual Directory.   

This will ask you for an alias (e.g. OCS_Web_PS), and then you will be asked for the location of the source files; select the folder where you expanded OCSWebPS.zip. 

4)      Within the directory containing the source files, you will find a file called WEB.CONFIG.  This file needs to be modified slightly to meet your needs.  In order for the web site to “talk” to the OCS server, it needs to have rights to write to the \\OCSPROG\CDUSR\ADMIN\WEB_COMMS directory, and read-rights to the \\OCSPROG\CDUSR\ADMIN\FINANCIAL_CONTROL directory (and subdirectories).  Within the WEB.CONFIG file, you will see the following information: 

 The “username” and “password” portions need to be changed to a user who has rights to the WEB_COMMS directory.  You can use an existing user, or create a specific user for this purpose and set the rights as needed. 

5)      At this point, with the virtual directory configured, the pages are visible via the web.  Accessing the pages can be done through a number of ways.  The default main page for this program is ACCT_VALIDATION.ASPX.  The simplest way to access this would be to have users type in your main site address (e.g. www.vasinc.com) and then add in “/directory_where_it_is_installed/” and then the page name, ACCT_VALIDATION.ASPX.  This, however, is awkward for many users.  Alternatively, you can set the page to be default through web management software, or you can place a hyperlink to this page on an existing web page.
