Using the Print Release Station

When the user arrives at the print station, a window similar to the following will be displayed.

The above window is displayed at startup, after 5 minutes of inactivity or when the patron closes the session

The patron clicks on the “Click Here to Vend” to see the job list.

The OCS queues registered are listed in the queue window, with each queue showing the quantity of jobs, and the queue type (i.e. BW or COLOR). The first queue in the list is the default queue. To change the queue being displayed in the main window, select the desired queue.

The print jobs listed in the main window will also depend on the selection made in the Owner/Job Name window.  This window defaults to SHOW ALL JOBS.  To view a listing of only the jobs for a particular user, click to highlight the user name.  Keep in mind that by default, the PRS is automatically updated once every minute. This can however be configured to refresh more frequently.  Should the user not see their job, the timed refresh of the PRS can be overridden by clicking the REFRESH button.

The user can search for their jobs using the following criteria:

  • By the machine name of the originating computer

  • By the name they gave the job

  • By the document name

  • By the time the job was sent to the print station, or

  • By the number obtained at the workstation.

  • Note: If sending jobs from a Mac or PC not running the client, a job can only be identified by the originating computer’s name.

Once the user has found the job they wish to print they can:

  • Double click on a single job

  • Click once to highlight a job and then click the PRINT button

  • Hold the CTRL (or SHIFT) key, select multiple jobs, and then click the PRINT button

Selection of Job by OCS Job Number

The OCS Client pop-up screen can be set up to offer the user a privacy number.  If the user selects to have OCS generate a job number, the user needs to write this number down.  The next step would be to click the PRINT BY # on the OCS PRS and enter the job number in the box displayed:

Multiple Print Availability

If there are multiple printers available to the user, or if the option to PROMPT THE USER is selected in the vend station administration program (i.e. VENDADM), the following window will be provided to the user at which time the selection of printer must be made.

Vending via Coin Box or Card Reader

Users will be required to pay for their selected job(s).  Once the print job is selected and the printer chosen (if required), the total cost for jobs selected will be displayed and the user will be instructed to "Insert Funds". The user may wish to vend their print jobs via account.
